Robert C Merrill, PhD, PE
MerSep's principal engineer retired from BP, after attaining the position of Director of Reservoir Engineering. He later joined Cairn India Ltd as Chief Reservoir Engineer where he provided technical oversight for all reservoir engineering activities, especially those for the Mangala Field which is the world's largest polymer flood outside of China. Bob was responsible for maintaining the company's reserves and resources.
In Bob's long and varied career, he has been fortunate to to have gained worldwide experience in clastic, carbonate, porcellanite and volcanic reservoirs.

- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams in the development of complex petroleum fields (India, deep water Gulf of Mexico, Kuwait, Colombia).
- Demonstrated ability to influence multiple stakeholders with conflicting agendas (legal, government, human resources and commercial) in varied multicultural settings.

- Skilled user of a wide variety of reservoir engineering tools, ranging from classical techniques and well testing to simulation, with hands-on knowledge of Eclipse, Imex (and the entire CMG suite), VIP, Nexus and other tools.
- Mastery of reservoir performance analysis using a variety of techniques in fields with varied recovery mechanisms and depositional environments. (Alaska, Gulf of Mexico, U.K. & Norwegian North Sea, Middle East, Colombia, India).
- Acknowledged expert in the field of hydrocarbon phase behaviour and gas injection projects
- Practical expertise in corporate production forecasting with risk and uncertainty
- Practical expertise in waterflood management and general production optimisation.
- Significant experience working with legal teams in the preparation of strategy, as well as in giving courtroom testimony and depositions.
Qualifications
Bob earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering in hydrocarbon phase behavior. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas.
